Soul Deep returned to its home ‘Silks and Spice’ for its
Carnival Special on Sunday 29th August 2004. Recently voted as
best rave of August 04 by the thousands of PromotionCity.co.uk
web surfers, this was going to be a night to remember as there
had been a lot of hype for this event which had greeted us on
the streets weeks and weeks in advance. Soul Deep is an event
everyone has at least heard of once and at least knows someone
that has attended. We therefore expected this carnival special
to be yet another road block event.
The environment in and around Silks and Spice before entering
the building was full of hype, with a constant buzz and
murmuring of voices that had echoed the streets as some people
found themselves queuing up for almost an hour. Cars, as the
photo’s show were parked bumper to bumper leaving no space for
the late comers!
From the moment Living Life Ents founder Lloyd Life expressed
his concern whether or not everyone would make it in the
venue, it was unmistakable that this was going to be a ‘jam
packed session’.
Promotion City caught up with several familiar faces including
Soul Deep’s very own resident MC Joe Blimey, who was dressed
appropriately to suit the carnival atmosphere with his green
and yellow Nigeria football shirt tied diagonally across his
chest. Soul Deep has seen many celebrities make an appearance
in its past and this night was no exception with the most
recent, newly made celb, Big Brothers Jungle Cat, Victor
partying it up in the corner.
Pure smiles and dancing were all we saw at Soul Deep, no
trouble, just as R. Kelly sings… happy people!
The clientele attracted to Soul Deep has always been top
notch, but now word has spread, and with the wide marketing of
Soul Deep, we are now seeing people travelling not only from
North, South, East and West London, but folks from Luton,
Watford and even as far as Brighton are coming down too.
This is a rave of strictly good times, good attitudes and
maturity. The ever increasing, barely 21 year olds, who have
recently started supporting nights like these, have had no
option but to leave their bad attitudes and immaturities at
home.
Living Life Entertainment, the connoisseur in the business,
know how to bring real entertainment with a line-up consisting
of the ever-popular street sounds and DJ’s who continue to
spread their names around the UK. These included Lloyd Life,
CK Flash, Elliot Ness and Daze, Smood Connection, Nick Smood,
G-Ents, Cover Up, Scotty B, So-Fine, Fabolous Vibez, The Man
Dem and not forgetting MC’s Mark T and Joe Blimey. This fine
selection of masters played the finest in Bashment, Soul, RnB
and a touch of HipHop, Soul and unforgettably, Carnival
classics.
Tickets were priced at a mere £10 and sold like hot cakes,
this left many people at the door nudging their neighbours in
hope that they had some tickets on sale. The true ‘Soul
Deeper’ knows what to expect, so make sure you’ve learnt your
lesson for the next one….
If you were there, partying with the carnival vibe or posed
for a picture or two taken by Promotion City’s lovely
photographer Camile Evans, make sure you have a look in the
‘Soul Deep: Carnival Special’ picture gallery and not
forgetting the pictures scrolling to the right. Keep your eyes
peeled and see if you spot the Big Brother Jungle Cat, Victor
with Joe Blimey and Promotion City’s Neil-One.
To conclude, this was another night to remember with Silks and
Spice full to the brim, both rooms occupying well over 400
people each until the blessfully early hours of 4am. Will it
ever die down?. I don’t think so!
