This was the return of
the much eagerly anticipated Cocktail in which tickets had
completely sold out well before the night commenced. This
event had been very well promoted before hand and a lot of
respect goes out to all the hard work that the promoters had
put into this event before as everywhere you went you could
not fail to see a Cocktail flyer, billboard poster or hear the
impressive advert on the radio.
Cocktail was held at
The Players Club, East Ham. And upon arrival the most
noticeable thing was the amount of people that were queuing to
get in. One would only describe this as ‘amazing’. This was a
major talking point of the night and as the photographs show
there were ravers who eagerly wanted to witness and be a part
of Cocktail 2004. One of the things which was apparent by the
obvious huge turnout was that this WAS the event of Saturday
24th April and there was no other place to be.
Inside the venue it
was just as packed as it was outside in fact the appropriate
word to use would be packed ‘RAM’. With the ladies and the
Gents both continuing the theme of dressing to the highest of
standards that previous Cocktails had set there was no doubt
that everyone present made sure they had dressed to impress.
As far as the dress code goes there was no denying that the
ladies were looking rather sexy in their party frocks, two
pieced ensembles and killer heels (on this occasion the little
black dress did not go a miss). The gents however went all out
looking slick and sharp, this time they weren't shown up by
the ladies it was ‘even stevens’.
The atmosphere that
had been created inside would be described as a ‘proper’
raving atmosphere with everyone bubbling and enjoying
themselves, there was no room for posers on this night.
Alcohol was consistently flowing and there was hardly a person
insight that wasn't sipping on some form of Champagne or Alize.
In keeping with the
name ‘Cocktail’ the music was just this. A mix and blend of
the best from all different genres from RnB to Jungle,
Bashment, Garage, Hip-Hop Slow jams, Soca,
Reggae and Rare-Groove… everyone was
catered for. From the thunder clap rhythm to ATL no one was
left standing.
Promotion City caught
up with a few ravers and Shermaine from North London said “I
phoned all the ticket outlets and couldn't get any tickets on
the morning of the 24th. I even phoned one of the DJ's and he
asked me if I was mad and how I should get all my girls and
get ready now, to begin queuing!" (Take into consideration
that it was only 11-am!!) Lee from East London said "After I
got in I must say that I was well impressed with the amount of
ladies, ladies, ladies! Damn they were looking good!"
The general feedback
is that the venue definitely needs to be taken into careful
consideration next time to accommodate the demand of the
cocktail ravers, as I am sure the next cocktail will be even
bigger and better. Overall a great time was had by all and
inside the venue there was generally no bad vibes. Filled with
fine ladies and gorgeous guys it was a nice night for nice
people.
A word of advice from
the promotion city team, make sure you buy your tickets for
the next Cocktail in advance as they do sell out 'quick a
clock'. To miss this rave you most definitely will be missing
out. As they say "EVERY DISSAPPOINTMENT IS AN APPOINTMENT" so
if you missed this edition of Cocktail you now know it is the
place to be and you will make sure that you are there next
time.
