Just what everyone had been waiting for! Goodies returned with the ‘Thank you Party’ to thank loyal ravers and members for a year of keeping the GOODIES alive and kicking. With the freeness being strictly for the loyal customers everyone was trying to become a member in time for a night that was certain to be a roadblock affair. Once again the Supreme Connection team had there followers out in their glad rags ready to party until 6am!
This wasn’t your usual GOODIES party in a big venue with guest celebrity DJ’s but the two floor split in an intimate venue catered well for the 500 people who came out to party! DJ Policy & Martello Kicked off the night in fine style with upbeat RnB flava’s to a crowd of 250+ and that was by 11pm! It was good to see everyone out nice and early even though it finished at 6am. By 12.30 the venue had reached capacity having to make those latecomers wait for entry or be turned away. Those inside however were queuing at the bar like there was a shortage on alcohol!!! Drink down them and Bashy flava’s from Reggie Styles saw Men/Women flock the dance floor to show off their practiced talent. This was by far a night that had variety written all over it. Mingling in a diverse crowd of mixed ethnicity meant it was only right to mix up the music and by the time Smooth Connection dropped some of those much loved Soul/Rare Groove tunes I thought I was at a concert. Reloads were a cert as Mitch Malice dropped some of those tunes we don’t often hear in the clubs these days.
Was it me or was it everyone’s Birthday? As Mistery G took the mic to ask “who’s celebrating there b’day tonight” the place erupted with scores of people coming forward, Dropping the needle on his much loved ‘crunked up’ tore the place down as Supreme Squad flung down come classic Hip-Hop. By 3am the alcohol had fully taken its effect on most although heads were still seen queuing at the bar for an age! The vibes were good and everyone had their dancing shoes on. Needing a little variety murmurs of when the UKG was going to be played could be heard setting the platform for Scottie B to mash up the place! Each mix was requested to be pulled up and with Reggie Style’s, Mistery G, Butch, L.E.V & B’day MC Done’o in the place everyone was ‘Bounce’ ing to the flow.
Well after 4, people hearing the vibes from surrounding clubs were desperate to get in to no avail, it was strictly a night for the early raver’s! Finishing off the night was Mistery G back to back with Butch with some slow jams and just when everyone had gotten their one dance Butch drew for the sweeping sound of London… Funky House!!! This went down a treat with people hurtling back on the dance floor to shake off any thought of sleep they may have had.
I for one know Sunday sleep wasn’t enough to recover from a much filled fun night out and waiting for the next Goodies, which Just happens to be the 1st Year Birthday Party for GOODIES! I know where I’ll Be! GOODIES 1st Year Bday – SAT 22nd April 2006 @ Carling Academy.
