Arriving fully tooled up as an FBI agent and prepared to thoroughly investigate Kojo’s Birthday party we found nothing but fun, fun, fun! Continuous camera flashing and contagious laughter filled the club until the shock-factor of the effort made with costumes wore off and everyone got tipsy and warmed up the dance floor
The highlight was Manny Norte (1Xtra) dressed as the Prince of Zamunda (Coming to America) with two ladies as flower bearers in tow throwing petals as he walked around the venue! His DJ set even started with the Coming to America theme tune – Genius! I’m still trying to work out how the girls never ran out of petals all night!
Bob Marley (Longers of G-Ents) was on the decks keeping the crowd lively - the first DJ I’ve seen to play bashment mixed with funky house! Wow! Batgirl (Charlene of ClubMania) was caught ‘willy bouncing’ with an overgrown Tweety Bird; Sponge Bob Square Pants tried his best to whine his waist (in the cardboard box!) and When ‘Hey ya’ came on, out popped Andre 2000 (Melvin from BBC) in the middle of the dance floor in full attire, long straight hair, green shirt and a Polaroid to shake! He won the best costume of the night…well done Melvin!
Big up to all the characters that made the effort; Karate Kid (Mr Play), The Mask, Trinity from Matrix, the fat belly dancer, Lara Croft, Wonder Woman, The Zulu tribe women, Cleopatra, etc… there were so many! I think this is definitely a contender for Promotion City’s 2006 party of the year award, Kojo pulled off a hell of a party that most promoters would find difficult to achieve.
