Carnival Monday 2005 was marked by the presence of Legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff at what was earmarked the next big rave - “Goodies”. The promoters Supreme Connection had obviously done there homework and worked to put together a night that would stamp their presence on the promotion scene.
Carnival had obviously given individuals the buzz to rave as they were dressed to impress & get down to the infectious beats supplied by an all star line-up. Scottie B & Kool J got the party firing with an explosive set “TWICE as NICE” style before Ras Kwame laid dowe those big bashy joints we all love to get hyped up to, before he introduced Lian Hart – A UK beat box machine that wowed the crowd with his skills of singing & beat boxing. Killa Kella obviously thought he did a good job because when he took to the mic to demonstrate his skills in the same field he used his experiences & mesmerised the audience by mimicking samples from ‘Friends’ and ‘he Neptunes’, in addition to his voice sampling and tampering as only he can do.
Sponsors Alizé kept the party bubbling with free Alizé Bleu shots. Up stepped the infamous & legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff to showcase his exquisite turntable skills. Hosted by Madd Skillz they engaged the audience into an old skool set fused with some nu skool towards the end in what could be called a journey through time with the craft & magic only Jazzy has the ability to produce.
Just when everybody had been over awed by Jazzy Jeff up stepped Firin’ Squad, Smooth Connection & Supreme Squad alongside the mad man Dr. Psycho to tear the place down with some big soca joints. Keeping in line to the bashy feel of carnival, everyone hoped onto their bikes for the frog riddim as Psycho dropped an exclusive couple of remix editions to the summer smash. This was party zone time as the elite cliques entertained the ravers with some top tunes. You know your having a good time when you to the bar & pull out your flash phone to discover that there’s only 15mins to the end! You can give me the Goodies anytime!
