Since ‘True’ the new years party at APT bar, Cheeky and Confunktion left us wanting more, God made me Funky proved another great collaboration. The night dedicated to funky house was held at the very aristocratic, Pacific Oriental, a restaurant by day and a brilliant venue for rave by night. Tickets were very accessible, sold at all usual outlets and by the promoters at the very reasonable price of £10.00.
God made me Funky was dedicated to the new craze sweeping the city, ‘funky house’ and was held at the very aristocratic Pacific Oriental.
The use of such a fantastic venue showed the promoters put in a lot of effort and research into choosing an ideal location to hold their event. Pacific Oriental is a fully furnished club/restaurant placed in the heart of the city. The venue interior is of a very high-class, with a spacious dance floor downstairs, a huge bar, seating area, and the usual DJ booth and toilets etc. - but the added extra was definitely the live percussionists!
Upstairs was dedicated to RnB, with a hint of Bashment, and strategically placed was a smaller dance floor and a larger seating area, another bar, and also the cloakroom. All the staff were great and efficient; you could tell they’d been paying attention in the customer service training! There were various drinks available at the bar, at very reasonable prices - cheap and cheerful – just how we like we like it! The funky house ravers had all they needed to party well into the early morning.
This was one of the first raves we had been to where we had service with a smile and didn’t feel the need to curse two bad words. Both the vibe and crowd were amazing, believe me! We were bubbling to every tune. Each DJ receives 5/5 from us - they smashed it! It was so nice to go to a rave where people actually came to rave. The vibe upstairs was more chilled out, and those on the dance floor seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.
On a whole ‘God Made Me Funky’ was a huge success! The promotion team delivered a fantastic event, it was serious! Our only question is “When’s the next hook-up?”
