I don’t think that Hackney Central has ever seen so many revellers come through its doors for one particular event, as it did For Elliot Ness’s “Big Untouchable Birthday Day Jam.” This club was jam packed and outside was almost as busy as inside, with all the disappointed ravers that didn’t arrive early enough and couldn’t gain entry.
Inside for those lucky ones that did get in, the atmosphere was ELECTRIC. Everyone was waiting for something big to happen, and it did!! With every DJ that played, the crowd grew more hype, it was like the ravers wanted more, and more is what they got. One Mc got so excited he jumped on the desks, so he could feel more of the vybe from the crowd. Considering that every single DJ from North and East London was on the bill for this event, I’m surprised there were any DJ’s left to play anywhere else on this night.
When the Birthday boy himself “Sir Elliot Ness” got to the desks, everyone was practically jumping up and down waiting to see what he would do. He didn’t disappoint, moving away from playing his usual set of hip- hop. He let us have it with party classics and sing along anthems. While downstairs Supa D and Good Vybe Clive couldn’t believe their luck when ol skool veteran Mc Creed, blessed their set with his unmistakeable vocals “and we doin it and doin it again”. Ol skool connoisseurs were bubblin and banging the walls for rewinds and bussing skanks I haven’t seen since the days of Coliseum.
It was one of those nights when no one wanted to go home and people lingered inside and out, as long as possible trying to find out were the after party was. Because this rave was so serious it had left them on such a buzz, they wanted to carry on partying. For all of you that missed out, I have one word of advice for you. Next year get there EARLY.
