After the scenes of the 1st Student Link up, the return of
The Pre-Easter Student Linkup had quite a billing to live up to! The task at hand was a big one and the venue wasn’t quite as filled as the
Pre-Christmas link up. However musically we were entertained on the same level. Sets included Reggie ‘Heavee’ Stlyes, Frisky DJ, CLK, and your hosts Fireman and Mr Play.
Also included was a special guest appearance from Moonlight from Cold as Ice and
an exclusive PA by the US R'n'B sensation Marcus Houston.
There was a lot of expectancy on this night and the whispers that could just be heard amidst the palpitating bass line was “Is Nas coming” or “ “Has Nas been on yet?” Unfortunately it turned out that that Nas
could not make it. With Fat Joe performing at Hammersmith and a certain ‘Fiddy’ AKA 50 cent plus his G-Unit entourage around the corner at the plush China Whites, maybe this was the real explanation as to why this was the case? Nas’ official explanation for his absence according to our sources was that he was unwell! Yeah right Mr Jones! Who knows though? You’ll have to try and work that one out yourself! This however did not stop the majority, which
were students in the crowd from having a good time especially when the Soca and Bashment and the classic late 90’s hip hop joints were played including the hit ‘Ouchie Wally’.
The controversial point of the night had to be when Masterstepz took up the microphone and starting blatantly dissing the Heartless Crew. His disses were more directed towards Fonte but he made sure he had a dig at all of the trio by announcing he had new names for them in that Mighty Mo was to be renamed Mighty ‘Hoe’, Fonte to be renamed Panty and Bushkin to be renamed Bush w@*ker! Stepz also threw down a Nathan ‘come into my room’ dubplate aimed at the HLC by throwing a barrage of abuse and disses and declaring that he could not wait to ‘buck-up' on them!!…We watch this space!
If you thought that this was it for the night then you were wrong as Play Ent did not disappoint the crowd as he unleashed
his special guest PA Marcus Houston on the crowd who performed 3 hits off his album including ‘up in the club’. This had the crowd, especially the young ladies hollering and screaming for more, more, more!
Overall we though this night deserved 3 out of 5…. Were you there? What do you think? What did you hear? Why not post your comments on OUR FORUM PAGE and comment on the non-appearance of NAS, the performance of Marcus Houston or the Masterstepz versus HLC
beef! Or your views on the night in general! PUT THEM ON OUR FORUM PAGE
and let’s see what YOU the public think!
